Silverthorners Denny and Cheryl Parkinson traveled this spring to Thailand for the "hot" season, however, they found Phuket's beaches quite comfortable and a good break from Summit County's winter.
“We highly recommend a Phuket visit for anyone who enjoys beach life and a cultural upheaval — best food in the world, best diving and snorkeling, best beaches, tropical jungles, and you can ride elephants all in the same day. You will never see anything in your life like an open Thai food market,” they report.
“The pic of us on the water is on a sea canoe trip in Aoa Phang Na, a bay east of Phuket with incredible limestone island formations and sea caves, wild monkeys, mudskippers, and bizarre kayaking,” notes Denny.
They rode elephants, and sailed on a 33-foot catamaran to the southern islands off Phuket for diving, snorkeling, and all around revelry, joining an international crowd of Canadians, Japanese, Australians, Thais and Malaysians.
“We plan on returning in a year or two when we can spend much more time — and now we know exactly where we want to be in South Phuket,” their report concludes.

Other finishers included Les Clarke, Young Pentland, and Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter.

Congrats to TC3 Architects Inc., owned by Tom Connolly, for celebrating its 15th year on Wednesday. The office is located at Fifth and Main in Frisco, right there in that little log cabin on the long-ago postmasters Bob and Helen Foote (both deceased) property, known as Foote's Rest.
The one-room cabin once housed the One Book Bob bookstore, which was owned by former mayor Bob Moscatelli, a retired US Army tank battalion colonel who now lives in Denver.

Frisco Community Service Officer Larry Waetjen is requesting some help out at the Peninsula Skateboard Park.
Because the rules state helmets shall be worn and many kids (without helmets) are dropped off by parents or ride their boards and bikes out to the popular facility, only to find it is unlawful.
Officer Larry thinks there might be a civic-minded group with some funds or helmets to donate, thus improving the experience. The PD number is 668-3579.
