Jon and Kate — plus nine

Their reality show doesn't return until August, but this estranged couple has remained in the spotlight despite the show's hiatus. Especially Jon.

While Kate has finally smartened up and stayed away from the public eye in favor of spending time with their eight kids, Jon has been spotted everywhere from New York City to the French Riviera with another kid — his new girlfriend Hailey Glassman, 22.

If you really follow the lives of Jon and Kate, then the name might ring a bell. She's the daughter of Dr. Lawrence Glassman, who performed Kate's tummy tuck after she had the sextuplets. Apparently Jon decided to seek solace at the Glassman NYC household (they are longtime family friends) in May, right after Kate filed for divorce.

Hailey revealed that she got to know Jon while he was recovering from the split and found his “strength” admirable. The two immediately bonded on a romantic level. Jon may be 10 years older, with eight kids and a very famous ex-wife, but that isn't enough baggage to sway Hailey's interest.

She has revealed to the press that the reason that Jon likes her so much is because, “I'm a huge believer in not controlling someone. This is perfect. It just fits.” Sounds like an obvious jab at Kate, who's notorious for her controlling personality. Although Jon has taken up residence in NYC since the split/new relationship, I doubt this is the last piece of arm candy we'll see with Jon. He looks like a dog who wants to be unleashed for a long time.

The dating scene

If I could trade places with any celebrity, it would have to be Cameron Diaz. She's beautiful, talented, funny and above all, seems to land the hottest guys in Hollywood. Her past beau's include Justin Timberlake, Jared Leto, Matt Dillon, John Mayer, an occasional underwear model, and the list goes on.

And just when I thought things had nowhere to go but south for the playgirl, I find out that she's now dating two guys at once, and they're hardly at the bottom of the food chain. Cameron is now supposedly juggling Leonardo DiCaprio and Jude Law. She's starred romantically in movies with both of them, so I guess you can't fake chemistry because she's taken it to the streets. In the past two weeks, she has been spotted out in London on dates with both A-listers. You can't string two guys along for too long, so my bet's on Leo. They have Hollywood equality and according to London press, Leo and Cam's date was quite a bit hotter, if you know what I mean.

While Cameron is dating half of Hollywood, another familiar blonde is nursing a very public break-up. Jessica Simpson was dumped last week by Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo on the eve of her birthday. This girl can't catch a break. Jessica's once hot career now seems to revolve around performing at chili cook-offs and Sea World. And if that wasn't sad enough, her growing pant size and unfortunate love life has taken precedence over the fact that she now almost exclusively performs for dolphins. As for the reason why Romo dumped Jess after two years of dating and gushing about each other to the press? She wanted a ring, but he couldn't close the deal. It seems Jess wanted marriage and happily-ever-after, but Romo couldn't take the pressure and therefore ended the relationship. Perhaps Jess would have better luck with someone who isn't famous?

In other break-up news, Billy Joel, 60, and his third wife, Katie Lee Joel, 27, have decided to get a divorce after nearly five years of marriage. Shocking, really. According to friends, the couple just grew apart, and it was the age difference that caught up with them. Katie likes to go out and party, and Billy is now much more of a homebody. Sounds right on par for their ages. But Billy isn't feeling too bad about the break-up. Just a month after separating from Katie, he's already planning his fourth marriage. Well, that might be a stretch, but he is dating “The Young and the Restless” actress Alex Donnelley, who's only 10 years his junior. Congrats to finally dating someone age-appropriate!
