And in sports news, former Lake Dillon Fire spokesman Brandon Williams completed his first Ironman Triathlon, in Louisville, Ky., on Aug. 30, finishing the 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile road-bike ride and 26.2-mile marathon run in a very impressive 11 hours, 22 minutes.

The former Keystone resident, his wife and young daughter now live in the Metro Denver area, where Brandon works for the state Division of Emergency Management.

Meanwhile, his replacement, Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue PR guy Steve Lipsher, is trying to keep up the standard set by Williams, completing his third Leadville 100-mile mountain-bike race on Aug. 15 in 9 hours, 41 minutes.

Steve says he chased winner Lance Armstrong all day, but didn't quite catch him.

Meanwhile, Summit Cove Elementary and Summit Middle School students and brothers Andrew and Tyler Shaw recently competed in the Labor Day Weekend.

Andrew finished first overall in the 8-10 age group, and Tyler, after a bike crash requiring stitches, took third in the men's 11-14 age group.
