Ballot questions
— Eight locals are vying for three positions on Summit School District's school board: Sheila Groneman, Guy William Pacot, J Kent McHose, Janelle (Jan) Losh, Margaret Carlson, Barrie Stimson, Cathe Sander and T. Antonieta Butler. Visit www.summitdaily.com to read profiles on all the candidates.— Silverthorne residents are deciding whether to keep the town's TABOR revenue cap exemption in place indefinitely, as well as addressing a few “housekeeping” measures pertaining to town elections. More info: Silverthorne ‘de-Bruced' in the early 1990s, and the measure allowed the town to keep all sales tax revenues collected until 2013. The town wants to continue with its revenue retention, the only difference in the measure being that it will not include a “sunset” provision.
— Breck voters are considering whether to remove criminal penalties from the Breckenridge town code for the private possession of up to an ounce of marijuana by adults 21 and older. More info: Sensible Breckenridge, a local marijuana reform group, is promoting the decriminalization of marijuana in hopes of creating a system where drug use becomes a health issue, not a crime issue.
Other ballot questions with potential effects to Summit County residents include: Electing two school board directors at-large for the West Grand School District, a mill levy to fund education in the West Grand School District and a TABOR question affecting Montezuma.
