SUMMIT COUNTY — A man dressed as a football player for Halloween was arrested after a wild ride in his pickup truck that ended with “dark-colored fluid” flowing out of the motor, according to a report from Summit County Sheriff's Office.

In the wee morning hours of Nov. 1, a Summit County deputy saw the truck traveling in Keystone at an estimated 40 to 45 mph in a 30 mph zone.

The truck apparently blasted past a couple of young guys walking to a bus stop, missing them by 4 to 6 feet, according to the report.

The deputy pulled over the truck, which “eventually stopped.” The truck stopped crooked in a parking lot, the driver emerged and struggled to maintain balance as he moved to the rear of the truck.

The man had red, bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol. An empty 12-pack that looked new was in the bed of the truck, according to the report.

The man said he had consumed about five beers and a shot at a bar in Dillon but wasn't drunk. He and the deputy entered the hallway of the man's apartment complex, where the man removed his football cleats and a sobriety test ensued.

The man “declined to continue maneuvers after falling several times while performing the walk and turn maneuver,” according to the report.

He then began to contest that he'd been driving a motor vehicle that evening. When the deputy asked about the dark fluid leaking from his truck motor, the man said “that he hit a rock when coming home from the bar tonight,” according to the report.

The man was arrested and taken to Summit County Jail, where a breath test revealed a breath alcohol content of 0.143.

He was booked on charges including driving under intoxication, failing to use turn signals and careless driving.

Man says wrong thing to woman's brother, loses teeth

Thad was recently hanging out with a pair of brothers — Barton and Walt — when he made some comments about their sister that cost him a couple of teeth.

The comments about his past relationship with their sister “clearly upset” Walt, who began to argue with Thad, according to Barton's account in the SCSO report.

Walt and Thad began punching each other, and Barton did what he could to break up the fight, but Walt “connected with some of his punches and might have caused (Thad) to lose a couple of teeth,” according to Barton's account in the report.

As deputies spoke with Barton, the smell of alcohol was noticeable. The deputy ran Barton through the system and found there were two protection orders against him prohibiting consumption of alcoholic beverages.

Barton was arrested with charges of violating a protection order.

The deputies then visited Thad's residence, but he refused to open the door. When asked whether he wanted to press charges regarding the fight, Thad responded: “I wasn't in a fight, I was beat up,” according to the report.

Thad said he was OK and did not want to press charges. After he was again asked to open his door, Thad refused.

A deputy asked whether he needed medical attention. Thad replied:

“I'm fine, I can have my teeth replaced. I just want to go to bed; I have to be up at 8:30,” according to the report.
