A community leadership club food drive is being hosted at Silverthorne Elementary School starting Friday. Food will be collected through Dec. 26.

According to Moraima Kelley at Silverthorne Elementary School, 557 pounds of non-perishable items were collected last year.

“Our goal this year is to collect 600 pounds,” she said in an e-mail.

Items needed for the food drive include: diapers, rice, peanut butter, cereal, baby food and formula, canned fruits and vegetables, spaghetti sauce, canned tuna fish and any non-perishable items.
