Rep. Christine Scanlan
DENVER — Saying she wants to follow through on her commitment to the constituents of Eagle, Lake and Summit counties, Rep. Christine Scanlan (D-Summit County) has announced that she will not resign her seat in the State House of Representatives and will not run for Senate District 16.
Scanlan's announcement comes in the wake of State Sen. Dan Gibbs's decision earlier this week to leave his Senate seat to run for Summit County commissioner in 2010.
“I've worked hard to be responsive and accountable to everyone in Lake, Eagle and Summit counties, regardless of their party affiliation,” said Scanlan in a statement e-mailed Friday. “I am dedicated to House District 56 and will not seek the Senate seat in 2010. We have important work to do this year, from cutting the budget to fixing 1-70 congestion to battling the bark beetle, and I want 100 percent of my focus to be here in the House, working on the issues people care about.”
