MINTURN — The Eagle/Holy Cross Ranger District will hold an open house from 4-6 p.m., Thursday, March 4, at the Holy Cross Ranger District, 24747 Hwy. 24 in Minturn. Forest Service representatives will provide information and gather public comments on a supplement to the 2008 Upper Eagle River Beetle Salvage Project environmental assessment.
The Upper Eagle River Beetle Salvage Project Decision Notice was signed on May 16, 2008. Since implementation began, changed circumstances and new information require additional analysis. Some of the changed circumstances include a blow-down event of dead lodgepole and the opportunity to use helicopters for logging near Minturn.
Detailed descriptions of the proposed action and maps will be available at that meeting. Those unable to attend the meeting are welcome to meet with someone from the Forest Service, one-on-one.
