I appreciate the opportunity to serve this year as your Breckenridge Area Director on the SAR Board. In my first update, I won't bother providing you with sales statistics, nor will I attempt predictions on where our market is headed, or when our market will hit that elusive bottom (if it hasn't already).
Our profession is experiencing what feels like an unprecedented wall of obstacles, constantly chipping away at our livelihood. Zig Ziglar, author, salesperson, and motivational speaker said: “Every sale has five basic obstacles: no need, no money, no hurry, no desire, no trust.” These are some powerful obstacles, no? But as Realtors… as experts in our profession and locale, and hopefully as experts in understanding the psychology of our clients motivations and fears, we have influence… if even indirectly… over every one of these ‘obstacles'. If there were ever a time where we need to be in touch with our clients motivations and fears, it is now. To this end, I would highly recommend the book ‘What Americans Really Want…REALLY' by Dr. Frank I. Luntz. Luntz provides powerful insight into the true desires and motivations of our buyers and seller that might make you stop and think about new ways of going about your business.
I would like to invite any and all Breckenridge area Realtors to feel free to contact me (re@colorado.net , 970.547.4662) so that we can discuss issues of importance or concern to you as a member of this association.
I wish everyone a very successful, healthy, and fulfilling 2010.
