SILVERTHORNE — There will be a large state-permitted tree burn pile operation starting as soon as today north of Silverthorne. The burn is taking place at the Rocking A ranch, about 1 mile north of LG Everest on the east side of Hwy. 9. The initial start of the burn will produce flames that will be visible from the highway, but smoke should be at a minimum as the wood is old and should burn quickly and hot. The burn is expected to last three of four days, depending on weather
