Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the world's only daily column a little worn out by all the Fourth of July festivities. We came, we saw, we ate, we drank, we danced, we ooo-ed and ahhh-ed, we laughed — though we didn't cry.
Happy Independence Day everyone, only one day late!

And, this is for the ladies out there who have a wedding dress and are sick of storing it.
Melissa Ponce de Leon recently wrote it to tell us about trashing her wedding dress for her first-anniversary celebration.
“We got the idea to trash my wedding dress from a magazine article ... and realized that it
was a brilliant idea. I'm not much of a dress girl, but my mom and dad bought me the perfect wedding dress; everything I had ever imagined for my special day. Since they bought the dress, we thought it was very important to get their blessing to destroy it. Mom was skeptical at first. Then I told her that by the time we have kids the dress will be out of style. ... The idea to trash my dress while riding our mountain boards was the perfect way to capture our lifestyle. We started our day at sunrise in Leadville, up in the mining district and ended with a perfect double rainbow in Evergreen. Our day included a visit to many amazing places; we cut the dress at Clinton Reservoir, long-boarded a 10 mile canyon, got bloody on the Silverplume Trail and got dirty at the Dirt Park in Empire, Colo.
It sure looks like Ponce de Leon had fun with her hubby! And, oh yeah, she wants to thank him (Joseph) for “being so amazing.”
Looks fun, kids!

We also have a Scum Alert!! Scum Alert!! from P.J. Schwan, a Frisco resident.
“It's a full moon and I wish I were sitting on my bench, on the 4th of July hill. A couple of weeks ago some horrible miserable, selfish person threw it over the hill and smashed it into pieces.
About 10 years ago, we put the old, wobbly bench on the hill to replace the rock I used to sit on. The rock had been moved, but that is another story! We put a plaque on the bench and last winter someone stole that, so I replaced it. The plaque read “Welcome to P.J.'s rock, est. 1983 — 7th and Teller. Dedicated to all who soar above us.” We had lost a lot of family and friends. In 2007, a contractor, Terry, was cleaning up the hill. I asked him if he could place some sitting rocks for others to sit on, and he did! What a nice guy. Now that the bench has been smashed, I'll be back to sitting on the rock, 27 years later. Living in Frisco since 1976, this is my first scum alert, which is a good thing!”
