Q: What type of business do you operate — what do you sell, or what service do you provide?
A: We are a full-service hair salon offering many different services including multi-dimensional coloring, texture, face waxing, and of course haircutting and styling. We also are a unique gift store featuring the work of local artists, as well as an interesting collection of houseplants and fun plant decorations. We carry unique hair accessories, hair products, and are the only distributors of La Vita Organics skin care line.
Q: Where are you from, and why did you decide to open your business in Summit County?
A: I have lived in the county for over 25 years, give and take, and the other girls are local as well. This is the best place to open a business as we live here and don't plan on moving!
Q: What experience do you have in this field?
A: I have cut hair for over 28 years and operated my own business for most of those years. I wanted to do something different than just hair, so I have used my other skills with art and plants to create a new direction for myself. I have younger, style-driven hairstylists who are very passionate about doing hair, working in the salon under my supervision.
Q: What sets your business apart from other similar businesses?
A: The salon is quiet and comfortable … like getting your hair done in the comfort of your own home. We have a different method of pricing to suit all needs. This ranges from a simple wet, cut and out the door, to the high-end pampering salon works, and everything in-between. As far as the boutique goes, I am pretty sure that there is nothing like it in Summit County!
Q: What types of customers do you hope to reach in Summit County?
A: We want to be able to reach people from all walks of life in Summit County. I have a bi-lingual hair stylist, Emily Ponce, who helps the Hispanic community feel more comfortable getting their hair done here. We love kids and have fun things for them to do. We would like everyone here to feel welcomed, cared about, and get a great new look as well.
Q: Why did you choose to open where you did?
A: I decided to open the salon in Silverthorne as there aren't any other salons in this town! This is a sunny, bright, centrally located building and the salon has a warm, homey feel to it.
Q: What are your plans for your company's future?
A: I would like to invite artists to come and display their wares here. We are gearing up to have some small clinics with our featured artists to do some “hands-on” things. We are looking into having special evenings for groups of friends to gather and enjoy a “happy hour” type atmosphere as they get their hair done. There are many ideas for the future floating around in my brain!
