Normally, sandy beaches, volleyball and bathing suits have about as much to do with Summit County as ski slopes do with Los Angeles.
But, for this weekend, Carter Park will be the center of some serious beach volleyball action, as the Corona Light Wide open hits Breckenridge.
The professional tournament has divisions for all ages and abilities, although the field will be highlighted by a number of top AVP Tour players, including 2008 U.S. Open of Beach Volleyball winner Aaron Wachtfogel.
The event is part of an eight-stop national tour.
In all, 400 two-person teams are registered for the weekend tourney, making it the largest field in the series' two-year run. Twenty-four teams will compete in the men's open division, along with another 24 on the women's side.
Play starts on Saturday morning at 9 and continues through Sunday.
