SUMMIT COUNTY — Eleven builders were recognized with awards during the 16th annual 2010 Summit County Parade of Homes, which is presented by the Summit County Builders Association and continues this weekend in Silverthorne, Frisco, Breckenridge and Blue River.
Four builders took the spotlight with at least six awards apiece. They include: Fazendin Brothers Colorado, which swept Category IV with eight 1st-place awards, including Best Overall, for Home #6 at 620 Two Cabins Drive in Silverthorne; Dana Covert Contracting & Darrick Wade from Bostad International, which took home eight awards (seven 1st place, including Best Overall, and one 2nd place) for Home #4 at 31 Red Buffalo Trail in Silverthorne; Thebeau Construction/Entrada, who won 7 awards (six 1st place, including Best Overall, and one 2nd place) for Home #11 at 508 Mountain View in Blue River; and Double Diamond Property & Construction Services, which took six awards (one 1st place and five 2nd-place awards) for Home #22 at 172 Sunshine Ridge Lane in Breckenridge.
In the multi-family category, Vail Resorts Development Company swept its division with six 1st-place awards, including Best Overall, for its offering at One Ski Hill Place, A RockResort.
Individual awards are given to builders and their associates, architects, and interior designers who worked to design and decorate the homes. Judges from Vail, Steamboat Springs and Denver visited each home in a specific category before allotting points in the areas of Exterior Design & Elevation, Kitchen, Master Bedroom Suite, Interior Finishes, Interior Furnishings, Builder Concept and Workmanship, and Landscaping and Outdoor Living Space. The greatest number of cumulative points was awarded Best Overall. This year's Parade of Homes includes a multi-family category and four single-family categories ranging in price from under $1 million to more than $3 million.
The Energy Star Award — presented by High Country Conservation Center – was given to Apex Mountain Homes for Home #2 at 1105 Bald Eagle Road in Silverthorne. Apex also won four SCBA Parade of Homes awards for the same environmentally green residence, Home #2, at 1105 Bald Eagle Road.
The Realtors Choice Award, presented by the Summit Association of Realtors, was given to Mann Builders for Home #18 at 636 County Road 456 in Breckenridge. The Mountain Living Editor's Award, presented by Mountain Living magazine, went to Double Diamond for Home #22 at 172 Sunshine Ridge Lane in Breckenridge.
J&E Development took home four awards, including Best Overall, for Home #12 at 170 Regal Circle in Blue River, and also won one award for Home #13 at 93 Bonanza Trail in Blue River. Level One Building Company took three awards for Home #14 at 36 Lakecrest Drive in Blue River; and Carlson Builders Inc./Matthew Stais Architects took three awards for the environmentally friendly home at 510 Wellington Road in Breckenridge.
Single-award winners include Mountain Log Homes of Colorado for Home #16 at 0304 CR 529 in Breckenridge; and Dream Makers Custom Homes of Colorado for Home #10 at 237 Whispering Pines in Blue River.
Homes are still available for “People's Choice” judging, and voting is available on-line at mountainliving.com. The homes are available to tour from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are available at City Market in Dillon and Breckenridge. The $10 ticket cost is donated to The Summit Foundation, and attendees may exchange their ticket for a wrist band at any of the homes.
