The Family and Intercultural Resource Center will host the third annual Summit County Cares Kid's Carnival from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, at the Silverthorne Pavilion.
This year's event differs from the past two Summit County Cares parties in that the focus is on providing entertainment for children rather than adults. Activites will include bounce houses, magic shows, a dance party, face painting and kids crafts.
“We wanted to provide a great family event for all of Summit County, along with making it a fundraiser for Summit County Cares,” said FIRC development director Anita Overmyer.
All proceeds will benefit the Summit County Cares fund, which is in the midst of its annual fundraising drive. The fund goes toward helping Summit County families who may be facing eviction, loss of heat, illness or hunger.
Though children and parents of all ages are welcome, the activities are geared toward children under 13. A recommended $5 donation provides access to all the activities, with no additional fees once inside the Pavilion.
All of the resources for the event, from the bounce houses to the Pavilion itself, were donated to benefit the Summit County Cares program. Overmyer hopes to raise $2,500 at this year's event as part of the larger effort to raise $40,000 for Summit County Cares this season.
Donations to Summit County Cares can also be made through the Summit Foundation website at www.summitfoundation.org. For more information about the party, contact Overmyer at anitao@summitfirc.org or (970) 262-3888 ext. 306.
