Saturday morning on Shadows Lane in Breckenridge, a young moose calf got trapped in a window well at the home of a neighbor of Mark and Pauline Masuhr. Another neighbor, Steve Levine, captured the action on his camera. First they tried to lower a ramp to let the moose walk out, but it was too steep. Division of Wildlife personnel were unavailable, so Capt. Chris Sutton and a crew from Red, White & Blue Fire Dept. came to the rescue along with some Summit County Sheriff's Office deputies and the county's animal control officer. Ultimately a noose of sorts was lowered and the calf lifted out. The young moose was soon joined by his mother and father, who were never far from the action but who did not interfere. All's well that ends well!
