Beginning today contractors will commence removing dead and dying trees along the Peaks Trail and Gold Hill Trail in the Dillon Ranger District. This work is expected to continue through October and November or as long as weather permits. The contractor will be working Monday through Friday each week, but will not be operating on weekends. Operations on the Peaks Trail will occur between the south trailhead on Ski Hill Road near Breckenridge to the Second Avenue Trailhead in Frisco. Operations on the Gold Hill Trail will occur between the trailhead located at the intersection of Colorado Highway 9 and Gateway Drive and continue to the intersection with the Peaks Trail.

There are no plans to close the trails to public use at this time. However, delays of up to 30 minutes should be expected until the project is complete. The contractor will post trail-guards to stop the public until it is safe to pass through the cutting area.
