Only five years after its inception, Pinnacle Mountain Homes has been named one of the best builders in the country by Builder magazine.
The 2012 America's Best Builder award goes to companies in four categories: production builders, community developers, spec builders and custom builders. Applicants are judged by a panel of industry peers, who base their evaluations on finance and operations, design and construction, customer service and quality, industry and community service and marketing.
Pinnacle, based in Summit County, won in the custom home-building category. Company president Chris Renner is beyond excited about the honor, especially in a market of “60,000 homebuilders in the country.”
Builder's editor-in-chief called Renner with the news.
“When I started Pinnacle, we were outsiders to the home-building industry, and we chose to embrace that,” Renner said. “We researched the best builders in America and adopted many of the innovative practices that we found, and then created more of our own. While we aspired to be like some of America's best builders, we never dreamt of actually being named as America's Best Builder. We were shocked to say the least.”
The application process included 150 pages of content, “countless hours of documenting our business processes from every angle” and recommendation letters from clients and industry partners, according to Renner. He applied because “we felt like we were operating on all cylinders,” Renner said. “We tripled our company in the last three years in the midst of the worst recession in the last 100 years ... to be named and awarded was quite a reward.”
An awards ceremony will be held in February at the International Builders Show in Orlando, Fla., followed by a feature article in Builder in March.
In 2011, Pinnacle represents 33 percent of Breckenridge custom home-building permits, and about 20 percent of Summit County permits. Pinnacle had eight new construction permits, four other builders had two, and 31 had one.
