Eide Bailly LLP, a regional certified public accounting and business advisory firm with a location in Frisco, is merging with Wipfli LLP, which ranks among the largest accounting and business consulting firms in the nation. The combination will bring more services to Summit County and make it one of the largest CPA firms along the Interstate 70 corridor, according to Eide Bailly partners.
Pending regulatory approval, the two firms will officially merge June 1. The combined firm will be named EB Wipfli LLP, and have an annual revenue of more than $314 million. It will serve more than 70,000 clients from 41 offices across the west-central United States and two offices in India.
Currently, Eide Bailly serves more than 40,000 clients from 19 offices in nine states. It ranks 24 in the list of largest CPA firms nationally.
The unification will place the new company among the top 15 accounting firms in the nation, and bring more services to Summit County, according to James Lyons, Eide Bailly partner in charge of the Colorado market.
Right now, about a third of Wipfli's practice is consulting, “something we can bring into the Eide Bailly footprint,” Lyons said. “The most important piece is what we can bring our clients.”
Certain financial niches, like estate planning, will be available to the new company's customers, said Celia Johnson, partner in charge of the Frisco office.
“A lot of small business clients in Summit County won't need to go to Denver,” she said. “We can do so much more for our clients and help them be more successful than in the past.”
Lyons said the history between the companies goes back quite a ways, including competing against each other in certain markets in the past.
“We have forged mutual respect and a strong relationship with Eide Bailly over the years, and feel this is an outstanding opportunity to combine our collective talents and strengths to enhance the value we bring to our clients, associates and the communities we serve,” said Rick Dreher, managing partner of Wipfli.
“We are proud to join forces with a firm of similar size, scope, culture and service philosophy,” said Jerry Topp, managing partner of Eide Bailly. “Eide Bailly and Wipfli are both committed to offering our clients top-quality service and customized solutions to help them thrive, and to provide our staff with a positive culture and exciting career opportunities.”
The new firm will be comprised of 2,327 associates, including 301 partners. Among the combined firm's new strengths, its national wealth-management practice will rank as one of the largest in the accounting profession, with nearly $3 billion in assets under management.
