On a recent volunteer shift at For Pets Sake thrift store in Breckenridge, I parked in the handicapped space in the Wellington lot. I had my handicapped placard in place, and when I returned to my car I found a citation. I had no idea you had to pay even in the handicapped space. I could easily gone into the store and gotten their parking pass, but I thought I should leave it for other volunteers. My appeal was turned down because the gentleman in charge said there are signs saying it is a pay parking lot. It is not the $20 I mind and have paid. It is the affront to handicapped people, like myself who don't know this. In San Francisco and other places disabled/handicapped persons do not have to pay at meters and the like. I believe that this does not put Breck in a very good light, a town that depends on a good business image.
