Everyone wants nothing in their backyard. However an ice rink on Willow Lake (in Silverthorne) can be advantageous to:
> Our health
> Our neighborliness
> Our fun and games
> Beating the North Ponders in pond hockey someday
> Our dentists
Worried about the Town of Silverthorne “emanating domaining” your yard for a parking lot? The TOS more easily can lease the horse stable lot on Rainbow and Rainbow Court.
“The North Pond Rink upkeep is labor intensive,” someone said. Probably true. But every dinky town in Minnesota and North Dakota has an ice rink. Could it be that a town supervisor or workers are making a mountain out of a molehill? (I'm just asking.) Or if it be true, I'll bet we have volunteers in the Willow Lake area if the TOS needs some laborers. (Me for one.)
And some of us toothless wonders are too old to travel to Breck, Keystone, or even the North Pond to lose more teeth. So sign the petition that's being circulated to create a “sense of community” right in our own backyard.” The benefits outweigh the trouble.
