Originally there were seven semi-magnificent recent candidates, downgraded to the Three Stooges and Zorro.” Let's call them the Mute, the Moron and the Great Santorini who Zorro tried to fight. Three politically unemployed characters try to become our leaders with a bunch of skeletons in the closet and shady views of our future and one little masked guy with always the last word, trying to stretch their back-bones. It is funny to watch all of the debates among the 1 percent of Americans deliberating the future of the 99 percent. It is extremely encouraging how our system is generous toward the rich people, that one wealthy guy can donate $5 million out of casino proceeds to one candidate instead of distributing this to the optimistic losing gamblers in his business.
Well, with the federal tax rate below 14 percent, our country may be the biggest tax haven in the world, surpassing the Cayman Islands and Monaco.
Unfortunately, the privilege belongs to only 1 percent of our society. The rest of us belong to the average number of developed country's citizens, paying a relatively fair amount of federal taxes. What is killing our society is what we constantly forget about, the state and local governments that put a much bigger tax burden on our private finances more than the federal government.
To me, from the political and philosophical views, the most interesting presidential debate would be between Zorro and Captain Ramon.
By Ron Paul saying “yes we can” would be an echo of President Obama saying the same thing four years ago. What an irony that the most changing views are coming from the oldest candidate and the most incomplete ideas from the youngest man, whom we had hope for four years ago. We are doomed, with all his good intentions, fresh views and not like in the movie, Zorro will lose.
