Snow is pounding Denver and northeastern Colorado this morning, with winds whipping up to 40 mph on the plains.
The anticipated winter storm has brought blizzard conditions to a widespread area, shutting down schools, government and businesses.
Drivers and travelers should be prepared for winter conditions, which can be dangerous.
Boulder has received 10 inches of snow as of 4 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
"Roads across the entire Front Range, southwest Colorado and the central mountains are icy and snow packed and high winds are making travel and snow removal difficult," the Colorado Department of Transportation said in a media release.
As of 7 a.m. Friday, none of the snow had appeared in the Summit County, with just a trace on the ground in Frisco.
