Every time I attempt to tell another kindred soul about what I experienced last Saturday, heart rain starts falling from my eyes. I become speechless and my heart swells. I haven't been able to describe what I saw when a flood of unconditional love penetrated my inner-most self.
I was attending the Requiem Mass for Mary L C of Breckenridge. I sat down in front of four rows of middle school students. A lot of these kids were taken care of by Mary as if she was their second mother.
I was standing in the parking lot watching other people when time seemed to have come to a complete halt. We were celebrating the life of an extraordinary mother, friend and family member. Everyone was milling around outside in front of “Our Lady of Peace” in Dillon Valley. The immediate family was consoling each other just after this heart-rending service for Mary's transition.
One of Mary's sons' left the family group and walked to his friends. There was about 30 teenagers gathered together to greet their friend during this difficult time.
Then this group of young people surrounded their grieving friend and gave him one of the best group hugs I had ever seen. This visual showing of love and care by the youth pierced my heart very deep. In that moment, where time and space disappeared, all I could feel and think was LOVE.
I haven't been able to stop the mental replay of this spiritual incident for over 24 hours.
It was almost as if Mary was speaking through all those kids she took great care of. Thanks to the youth and Mary for teaching me the way I should think and act toward others every day.
