Beginning next Wednesday, St. Anthony Summit Medical Center will host a New Mother's Brunch for moms who have recently had their baby at St. Anthony Summit Medical Center. The brunch is an informal community event for mothers to socialize and ask questions of the medical staff. It is an opportunity for moms to get emotional support from professionals and other families experiencing life with a new born.
The free event is set for 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday in the classrooms, located on the first floor of the hospital. It is sponsored by The Birth Place at St. Anthony Summit Medical Center. Dates for future New Mothers Brunches will be: June 6, Sept. 12 and Dec. 5.
The Women's Services Unit at St. Anthony Summit Medical Center boasts eight LDRP patient rooms with great views but was designed to make the patient feel like they're in their own home. The suites feature private Jacuzzi tubs, Sirius music channels, refrigerators, family-friendly rooms and wireless fetal monitoring so moms can move around while they are in labor. The state-of-the-art Birth Place at St. Anthony Summit Medical Center eliminates the need for families to travel outside the county for delivery and care of their babies.
The Birth Place team welcomes approximately 35 new babies each month in Summit County. The staff includes with three RNs, one OB tech, one pediatrician, three FPs, three OB GYNs and one nurse midwife.
For more information and to register, contact Mary Jo Foley at (970) 668-2875; maryjofoley@centura.org or Trixie VanderSchaaff, Director of Women's Services at (970) 668-2870; trixievanderschaaff@centura.org.
