The National Weather Service has good news and bad news for the Colorado mountains. The good news is that another round of heavy snow is headed to western Colorado's below-average snowpack.
The bad news is that travel through the region from this afternoon through Tuesday could be a challenge, with 10 inches to 2 feet of snow, driven by high winds.
Forecasters think metro Denver could see only rain or light snow tonight and early Tuesday, after a forecast high of 44 degrees and sunny skies this afternoon.
Most of the high country, however, will be under a winter storm warning from 3 p.m. today to midnight Tuesday, with the highest amounts expected in the southwestern San Juan Mountains and southwest-facing slopes.
