As one involved with a travel business in Frisco, I was extremely happy to read about the local consensus supporting protection for the area around Quandary Peak. People come to visit us in Summit County primarily because of our outstanding outdoor recreation opportunities and the vistas our surroundings provide. Everything else, from restaurants and hotels to the ski industry and realty, exist and thrive because we have such pristine surroundings. My travel business certainly depends on caring for our beautiful local places.
Sen. Udall's proposal for protecting lands in Summit County is a great idea, and it needs to go further. By including in his proposal the lands around Quandary Peak mentioned in your article, Sen. Udall will help ensure tourists continue to flock to our towns and our county. Such an inclusion will also ensure that one of our favorite Fourteeners and local attractions attains the highest protection in the land and stays available to us no matter what threats may arise in the future.
