Bizline: A new spa in Silverthorne

Q: What type of business do you operate - what do you sell, or what service do you provide?A: Corpus Sanus Spa is a new spa in Summit County where you can feel good, relax, get and stay healthy. We offer a variety of massages: Customized traditional massage, hot stone massage, sports massage, 4-handed massage, couples massage, prenatal massage, altitude adjustment massage, kids' massage (ages 7-18), mobile massage and aromatherapy. We also offer body treatments (e.g. detox wrap) and customized facials, including a discounted treatment for teenagers with troubled skin as well as sugar and salt scrubs and a variety of body masks. Our traditional hot rock sauna is an ideal way to decompress, detoxify and rejuvenate your body. After your treatment we invite you to relax in our lounge with a cup of delicious tea from Red Buffalo Cafe.Q: Where are you from, and why did you decide to open your business in Summit County?A: Peter is from Holland and Frauke (known as Frankie) is from Germany. We met in Frisco in 2004 and have a beautiful 2-year-old daughter named Maya. We decided to open a wellness spa in Silverthorne because there are only limited options available and this area needs some pampering.Q: What experience do you have in this field?A: Frankie is a licensed massage therapist and esthetician. She owned Healing Arts Mobile Massage Services before joining the team at Auth Vitality Center and later, worked as a massage therapist and esthetician at Serenity Spa in Keystone for the past 3.5 years. She was voted Best Massage Therapist of Summit County in 2010 and has devoted her life studies to the healing arts. Peter has been in the customer service industry for 12 years.Q: What sets your business apart from other similar businesses?A: The spa experience at Corpus Sanus is all about offering a peaceful place to relax. Our focus is on health and wellness, not on luxury. Our intimate, welcoming environment, personalized services and holistic approach help our clients maintain a healthy body and mind. Our spa is wheelchair accessible. We have a personal trainer as well as a nutritionist on call, and willingly make referrals to physical therapists, acupuncturists, chiropractors and other practitioners as needed.Q: What types of customers do you hope to reach in Summit County?A: We hope to reach locals and visitors, any age, any lifestyle. Many people splurge on a spa visit only for a special occasion. We, on the other hand, want to promote ongoing wellness with consistent massage. Our services and prices back that up, and are a perfect fit for people's lifestyle here. Q: Beyond the spa services, how will Corpus Sanus be participating in the community?A: We will be holding workshops on topics like nutrition and exercise. That interactive education element is really important to us, and a core part of the holistic approach to health. Keep an eye out for a workshop on Sugars and How to Read Labels, which we'll be hosting at Red Buffalo Caf, one of our community partners.Q: What are your plans for your company's future?A: For us, growth isn't about physical expansion, but about building a base of clients who trust us to be a regular part of their healthy lifestyle. When people leave feeling good and with a smile, they take a little piece of that spa experience home, and that puts them one step closer to being healthy all over.
