Report of gunfire lead Silverthorne PD to discovery of stolen items

A report of shots fired in Silverthorne Wednesday night lead police to a home connected with another ongoing investigation.

Silverthorne police were looking for a weapon connected to the report when they were lead to a home connected with other incidents, said Mark Hanschmidt, Silverthorne chief of police.

After obtaining a warrant, the police discovered "items linked with recent burglaries in the county," Hanschmidt said.

An investigation is under way.

"Our initial investigation seeking a weapon turned into more than we had expected," Hanschmidt said. "We obtained a warrant for a home in Silverthorne where we found drug paraphernalia and items associated with recent burglaries."
