Brothers Devin and Connor Wills cofounded their namesake band, The Living Wills, which dedicates itself to "making music that means something lyrically and melodically." Both have more than a decade of experience with instrumental music, Devin playing piano and Connor on a drum set.
Devin and fellow band member Brian Saulig - who handles the "melodic low end" with over 14 years of bass experience - hail from Metro State University in Denver. Also sitting in from time to time are Joey Simmons, Corbin Jones and Leif Wildforster.
The group plays rock, blues, folk and jazz music. "We love the all the old jazz musicians," Connor Wills said. Members are currently recording a demo of their best original material.
Showgoers can expect an "exciting, fun, goofy, crazy, musical" show, including "originals and covers with a twist of our own," he said. "We rock and roll."
One time, "a guy at one of our shows started really heckling my brother about the color of his shirt," Wills said, when asked to recount a funny experience from a past performance. "And this girl in the audience freaked out at the guy. She began to defend my brother's honor and fashion sense simultaneously. Well, it was funny at the time at least," he said.
Tonight's show starts at 9:30 p.m. and there's no cover. Info: www.almasonlybar.com or (719) 836-2214.
