Join the North Branch Library, the Family and Intercultural Resource Center and McGuire Law at 6 tonight at the library, 651 Center Circle, Silverthorne, for a free information session about the new Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy. This policy benefits individuals who entered the United States without permission as a child or youth and provides an opportunity for them to receive deferred action for two years, subject to renewal, and to apply for work authorization. The session will include a presentation about the policy, including eligibility requirements, methods of application, risks and benefits of applying, and where to find more information. In addition, attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions about DACA or any other immigration-related issue and receive answers from a qualified immigration attorney. This bi-lingual Spanish/English event is free to the public, and everyone is welcome to attend. Free food and child care will be provided. Join Friends of the Dillon Ranger District for a day of exciting projects to help take care our gorgeous county on National Public Lands Day on Saturday. Volunteers can choose between some lakeside fun helping realign the perimeter trail on the Frisco peninsula or participate in a litter pickup on Swan Mountain Road as part of FDRD's Adopt-a-Road commitment. The day will kick off with a light breakfast at 9 and end around 1 p.m. with some afternoon snacks provided by FDRD. Each volunteer who helps out on Saturday will receive a one-day coupon for free entrance to all federal fee areas, good until September 2013. The Summit Foundation is looking for volunteers for the 18th annual Summit County Parade of Homes. This premier home tour takes place Saturday and Sunday, and Sept. 29-30. Volunteers greet attendees and exchange tickets and receipts for wristbands. As a benefit for volunteering, volunteers receive free entry to visit the parade homes for all four days. Homes may be staffed in Keystone, Breckenridge, Frisco, Copper Mountain, Silverthorne or Dillon. Volunteer shifts are from 9:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., noon to 2:30 p.m. and 2:15-4:30. An unofficial "Commanders Call" will take place at Adriano's Bistro, 240 Lake Dillon Dr., on Sept. 29 beginning at 2 p.m. This is a chance for all retired, active duty or veterans of all branches of the U.S. military to get together and meet with all those who have served. It will be hosted by a retired general who makes Dillon his home.
