Weather service upgrades Western Slope radar

GRAND JUNCTION - The National Weather Service has upgraded a radar station on Grand Mesa that will improve forecasts.

Forecaster Jim Pringle says the new equipment will provide better estimates of rainfall, snowfall and other weather events in western Colorado.

According to KREX-TV, the upgrade is part of a program to improve 122 weather service radars nationwide.
