Summit County Community Notes: 10-5-2012

Building a cohesive, dynamic team is one of the most effective ways for your organization to grow effectively. Kaleidoscope Concepts, which has been providing nonprofit training sessions in partnership with The Summit Foundation throughout this year, will be hosting a two-hour session today to address "How to Make your Board a Winning Team." The session will run from noon to 2 p.m. and includes a delicious soup/salad lunch. Consider bringing your key board members. The training will be in the Buffalo Mountain Room of the County Commons. To register or for more info, contact Judi at (970) 389-6470.

Tonight from 6-7 there will be a "From Bach to the Beatles 2012" information session. Basses and tenors are still needed for a community choir performance of "From Bach to the Beatles 2012." This information session will allow singers to review the choral music. Join organist/pianist Len Rhodes and director Chris Keelan for four Saturday rehearsals, leading up to the Oct. 28 concert. This event is jointly sponsored by Summit Music and Arts and the Breckenridge Music Festival. Email sandy@lenrhodesmusic.com or call (970) 468-6809, Lord of the Mountain Lutheran Church, 56 Hwy. 6 in Dillon.

The town of Frisco is offering the cost of an energy audit for multi-family boards or homeowners associations that apply to the High Country Conservation Center. If the audit shows promising energy and cost savings, another $2,000 is available toward upgrades. This is a first-time program and we are looking for leads on multi-family housing in need of this service. Think your housing organization might benefit from an upgrade? Give us a call at (970) 668-5703 or email Lynne, lynne@highcountryconservation.org.

The Summit-Lake Dillon Optimist Club is now conducting its annual ski pass raffle. A $2 ticket (or six tickets for $10) buys a chance to win a season pass to Copper Mountain, Loveland, A-Basin, or the Vail Epic Pass.

The proceeds from the ski pass raffle are used to provide scholarships to graduating seniors at Summit High School. The drawing is Oct. 17 at 12:30 p.m. at the Summit County Community and Senior Center and you do not need to be present to win. Tickets are available at any Alpine Bank or First Bank location, Dillon Ridge Liquor, or the Edward Jones office of Mark Nunn in Frisco.
