Tess & Karina's book picks

"Before I Go to Sleep," a gripping psychological thriller by S.J. Watson, grabbed me from the first page and had me hooked all the way to the end, just as a good book should. Very cinematic throughout, this fast-paced narrative reminds me of movies like "Dead Again, Secret Window" and oddly enough, "Groundhog Day," though without the humor.Imagine waking up each morning not knowing who you are, having only the hours of that day to figure it all out before you go to sleep, only to start over again the next day. Cleverly crafted and haunting, "Before I Go to Sleep" had me puzzling through the mysteries that arose from the fascinating premise.Don't miss this one!- Karina Wetherbee

"The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak, absolutely blew me away. Death narrates the story of Liesel Meminger - the book thief - making this World War II story burn with intensity. Written in a unique, lyrical style and full of heart-touching characters, this tragic and important story will stay with you long after you finish it; just be prepared to use a lot of tissues. I don't normally cry when reading books, but "The Book Thief" squeezed more than a few tears out of me. Death makes for an interesting narrator. Instead of malicious and mean, enjoying his job, Death is tired and afraid of humans after watching them kill one another for ages. This is an excellent book - one that is so good I want to press it into the hands of everyone I know.- Tessa WetherbeeFor more reviews by the Wetherbee duo, visit www.reviews2share.blogspot.com.
