As Red, White and Blue fire chief Lori Miller ends her nearly 30-year career with the fire service, her colleagues are throwing her a retirement party from 1-5 p.m. today at the firehouse on Main Street in Breck.
The Red, White and Blue firefighters will send Miller off with cake and ice cream, in the fire service tradition. The public is welcome to attend.
Miller was appointed chief in June 2011, and was the first woman to take the top job of an all-career fire department in the state. During her 18-month tenure, she captained the department to an international accreditation.
She will be replaced by former fire district Boardmember Jim Keating, who takes over as interim chief Nov. 1.
