Donohue: Lake Dillon Fire Protection District increase well worth the investment

Having just mailed in my official ballot, I thought to myself, "I hope my neighbors think the same about this." No, not the big presidential question, but the one right here in Summit County, the one that will most affect us. There's no doubt that most people have seen some financial struggles in the last few years, and there's a lot of questions concerning what might happen next. Really tough time to ask for a tax increase. But that's exactly what Lake Dillon Fire Protection District is doing. I have done all the research concerning the issues, the candidates, judges, etc. and have decided that the increase LDFD is asking for is well worth the investment. Actually it isn't a lot of money, $5.71 per 100k home value. Small price to pay to maintain the level of public safety we currently have. Not to mention keeping our firefighters safer by not having to cut corners to make ends meet. The last thing we need now is under-staffed, under-funded emergency services, because it could be you in a car crash, or it could be your home on fire. Let's keep our community safer by making sure our firefighters have what they need to keep doing the great job they do.
