Neel: Thank you Summit County

I want to thank the voters of Summit County for the record turnout in the 2012 General Election, and for your patience as we dealt with unexpected difficulties on Election Day. I also want the citizens to know what exceptional people work for Summit County Government. Every department in the Courthouse (Manager's Office, Treasurer, Assessor, Human Resources, Finance Office and Building and Grounds) pitched in and really went above and beyond when we needed their help. Summit County Information Systems could not have done a better job in assisting in the preparation for the election and their continued support throughout Election Day. I would like to extend a very special thank you to my staff and the election judges who put in long hours and all did an amazing job. They stepped to the plate when things did not go as planned. We genuinely appreciated the sandwiches that were brought to our office by an anonymous couple -they were all eaten!

I am also grateful for the municipal clerks and staff of Dillon, Silverthorne, Frisco and Breckenridge who helped us count and process over 8,000 mail ballots.

Kathleen Neel,

Summit County Clerk
