Eves: Xcel thanks Summit community

On behalf of Xcel Energy, I want to thank our customers in Summit County for their cooperation and understanding on Nov. 11 and 12 as we repaired a leak in one of our natural gas pipelines.

Even though there was no safety risk from the leak, we knew that with temperatures expected to drop to near zero, people needed the heat that natural gas provides. Our crews worked as quickly and safely as possible, but the nature of the leak and winter weather conditions meant they had to work through the night into Monday morning.

We thank our customers who were able to conserve natural gas use in response to our request and we appreciate everyone's patience and understanding of the short electric interruptions that occurred in some areas. These actions helped us minimize gas service outages in the area.

Again, thank you for your help and understanding.
