Agent Spotlight: Nell Campbell

Q: Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Surrey - to the west of London - in a semi-rural area that has now been largely absorbed into the London suburbs.

Q: What do you love about Summit County?

This is the best place I can imagine to raise my kids. We have great schools, an involved community and super organizations outside of the school system that combine to allow them to flourish in every aspect of their lives.

Q: What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

Real estate is very demanding of my time and energy, so spending down time with my family is hugely important. I cook - and love entertaining when I can make the time. I love the Denver Art Museum and am a member of the Denver Botanic Gardens. The Summit County Annual Garden Tour is a must. Gardening is an absorbing and challenging pastime - learning to cultivate plants that withstand the climate and are not just tempting snacks for deer and moose has been a learning curve!

Q: How long have you worked in real estate?

I've worked in real estate since 1978 in London, with some diversionary breaks into working in industry, owning a restaurant and getting a BSc degree. I went back into real estate in Summit County, in 1999.

Q: What is your specialty?

Understanding the needs of my clients in relation to what is happening in their lives. Almost all real estate transactions are triggered by a life change. These could be settling down in a first home, a growing family, financial success, divorce, death or downsizing to an empty nest. My goal is to help every client enjoy the smoothest possible real estate transaction, and allow them to focus their attention on the issues that are driving their sale or purchase.

Q: What designations do you have and what does that mean for people you with?

My Realtor designation reflects a level of education and professionalism I am proud of.

My Certified Negotiation Expert training helps me to consider all the facets of the transaction to ensure the best possible transaction for my client. As a Real Estate Divorce Specialist I look for a grounded atmosphere with divorcing sellers so that the real estate transaction is conducted in a positive manner to conclude the best possible outcome for both parties.

Q: What is the most challenging/gratifying aspect of what you do?

I am passionate about doing the best job possible for my clients - to make sure their needs are met and that everyone is happy. My gratification is in the resolution of the challenges.

Q: What is the most unique property you've listed or sold?

Every property is unique, as are its current and future owners. For example, my last transaction was a $2.6M Keystone golf course home on the Snake River (the highest priced sale in Keystone in the last three years), and the one prior to that was one-bedroom condo for a young couple buying their first home. Embracing the whole spectrum of the property market means working with a range of very different individuals and every transaction is one-of-a-kind.

Q: What are the top three things that separate you from your competitors?

Caring - I always want the best outcomes for my buyers and sellers and I will do everything within my power to that end.

Imagination - where we hit a snag or have an unusual set of circumstances I try to 'think outside the box' and come up with a solution that's a win-win.

A Direct Approach - I believe in 100 percent honesty and practicality, and following the rules that are there to protect everyone in what might be one of the most financially significant transactions in their lives.

Q: What is one tip you have for someone looking to buy or sell a home?

Do your homework and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Q: What do you see in the future for real estate sales/prices?

Where individuals have been invested in the stock market we have seen their money, hopes and dreams wiped out by steady decline, or even overnight. The value of real estate fluctuates with the market but is solid and generally improves over the long term. When you return from work, vacation or to your second home - it is still there. It hasn't disappeared.

Q: Why should someone chose you as their real estate broker?

I really care about the people, the details and getting the sale right. If I can enjoy a long-term relationship with my past clients I am truly happy.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to tell us about yourself?

I enjoy local history and tall tales. I have two teenage kids who were born here, attend Summit High School, and who are (most days) a joy. I'm told I have a very British sense of humor. I'm easy to talk to - call any time: I'm always happy to discuss real estate, red herrings, life in the U.K., life in Summit County, where to go for what and many other diverse topics.
