The Sessh, an Eagle-based band comprised of members of Frogs Gone Fishin,' The Big Motif and Royal Peeps, brings its New Orleans-inspired funk along with elements of electronica, jam and rock to three20south tonight.
Members include Cristian Basso on bass, MIDI bass and vocals, Trevor Jones on guitar and Jeff Jani on drums.
Basso has performed with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bo Diddley, and Lifetime Grammy Achievement winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominee, Leo Nocentelli of The Meters.
He credits Diddley for inspiring him to pursue the MIDI bass, which is used as both a MIDI instrument - generating low-end sounds and FX - and to trigger production changes during live performances. A blend of vintage and MIDI tones creates the sound the band calls "Sessh Sauce."
The Sessh came together in 2011. Since then, it has supported artists including Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Boom Box, JJ Grey and Mofro, The Pimps of Joytime, Particle and Tea Leaf Green. For its first Breck performance as a group, The Sessh promises "music for music lovers" and "a lot of dance music."
The band takes the three20south stage tonight at 9:30 and the cover is $5.
