Summit County Community Notes 12-7-12

Do you know where you want your nonprofit to be in one year, or three years? Do you have a plan to get from where you are to where you want to be? If the answer is no, then you need to be in the next Kaleidoscope Concepts "Souper" Series workshop today from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Buffalo Mountain Room at the County Commons in Frisco. This seminar will give you the tools to articulate your strategy, to develop time lines and responsibilities and to measure your results - ensuring your organization is as effective as possible. This workshop is for executive directors, board members and teams, and includes lunch and is sponsored in part by The Summit Foundation. The Summit County Library is seeking volunteers to assist with the upcoming Book & Bake Sale today from noon to 6 p.m., and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. held by the Summit County Friends of the Library. The money generated from the sale will provide much-needed funds for the libraries and is used to sponsor programs which benefit both residents of and visitors to Summit County.Donations of any type of baked goods, such as pies, brownies, cookies, cakes and breads, are requested and appreciated. In addition, help is requested during the takedown process, which will begin promptly at 5 p.m. at the completion of the sale. There will be a "Networking & Social Media" computer seminar at the Summit County Community and Senior Center on Saturday, from 9-11 a.m. Cost is $5. The seminar will explain the basics of various modes of networking, and offer tips on how to get involved and use social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and others. Specifically, it will cover: reasons for networking, different modes of networking, explanation of different social media, pros and cons and how to get involved. Call (970) 668-2940 to RSVP.

Join the Far View Horse Rescue on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to noon for a clinic covering "Happy Healthy Horses, Responsibility of Ownership."This clinic helps you know what you need for minimum quality care of your horse. Topics include: boarding, feed, insurance, brand inspection, hoof care, immunizations, teeth care and taking a horse's vitals. Cost is $25/per person. Home For The Holidays, benefitting Domus Pacis Family Respite is slated for Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Seven amazingly decorated Breckenridge homes open their doors to benefit Domus Pacis this holiday season.
