The wizarding world of Harry Potter will be brought to life on stage by Backstage Theatre's KidsPlay program. The performance will take place tonight at 7 at the Summit Middle School Auditorium, and is free of cost.
Participants in the play consist of sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders under the direction of Julenne Moore, who teaches French at the middle school. The play, entitled "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," is adapted from the fourth book of the Harry Potter children's series by British author J. K. Rowling. In the course of the book and the play, Harry Potter must compete in a tournament of wizarding skills.
"The presentation is a culmination of what the students have been learning under Julenne Moore's direction," Christopher Willard, artistic director of Backstage Theatre, stated in an email. "It's an opportunity for the students to flex their dramatic muscles, gain confidence onstage and have a blast!"
