Samuel John Mirto Jr. of Breckenridge was welcomed home to Heaven by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Jan. 3.
He was given in life to Faye Lee Mirto and Samuel John Mirto Sr. Dec. 12, 1951. He graduated Willow Glen High School and attended San Jose State before enlisting in the Marines May 2, 1972. After service to our country, he served close to 35 years in the Postal Service. He served as postmaster in Alma and Vail before finishing out as manager in Silverthorne before retirement in 2008. John was preceded and welcomed by his mother, Faye Lee; stepmother, Lonnie Mirto; mother-in-law, Helen Barchie and fellow Marine and father-in-law, Herb Barchie. John waits patiently in Christ for his loving wife, Stefana; son, Joshua; daughter, Krystal; father, Samuel John Mirto Sr. and sister, Vickie Arnerich. He will also be missed and cherished by his brothers in Christ and on earth Herb Barchie, Steve Barchie and George Barchie. To the many nieces and nephews, friends and family, cousins, neighbors and all who have offered prayer and lifted us up in this storm: we have continually felt your comfort and strength. We thank you.
In remembering John we ask gifts of celebration be paid forward to "Tent Maker" Minish, Denver Rescue Mission or any of your local ministries that offer an invitation to Christ. John is working on that banquet table right now. Just look toward the Milky Way. That table will be as long as that.
Service and celebration will be held at Great Divide Calvary Chapel in Breckenridge on Jan. 17 at 6:30 p.m.
