Grand Prix kicks off at Copper

On Day 1 of Copper Mountain's U.S. Grand Prix qualifiers, men and women freeskiers went back-to-back down the superpipe and the male snowboarders sailed through the air on the slopestyle course competing for spots in the finals, which will be on Friday.

The women's snowboard slopestyle qualifiers were moved to Friday morning, prior to the finals that afternoon.

The Grand Prix, a World Cup debut competition, has attracted athletes worldwide to Summit County as they look to help themselves and their nation earn spots in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

The next stops on the Grand Prix tour include a postponed Utah event at Park City following the early February Winter X Games as well as a stop at The Canyons for snowboard and skiercross.
