Property Spotlight: One-of-a-kind home in Breckenridge

The home at 1102 Bright Hope Road in Breckenridge is listed by Kari Canfield of Coldwell Banker Rounds & Porter Real Estate. Contact Canfield by phone at (970) 485-2785, by email at Kari@MountainLifeUSA.com or online at BreckRealEstate.com.

This home is located in the coveted Breck South Subdivision. Breck South is a wonderful, quiet neighborhood, where wildlife flourishes and mature aspen and spruce forests prevail. Hiking and mountain biking trails are steps away. This is a special place where one gets the true feeling of mountain harmony and solitude, all within walking distance to Main Street and the heart of Breckenridge. My children grew up here with their best friends all living nearby. The convenience of being so close to schools, restaurants, shopping and all our friends made the location ideal for my family.

This home evokes warmth and family sentiments. Built in a classic mountain style, the open floor plan and abundant living space allow us room to ourselves when we want quiet and privacy, while the huge lower level served as a haven for my kids and their friends. We have a pool table, ping pong table, poker table, foosball and of course the home theatre there. For adult time, we installed a one-of-a-kind 19th century bar counter ensemble that was originally serving patrons at the famous Leo's Place in downtown Denver in the late 1800s!

I really like to cozy up with a book in front of my fireplace in the winter. We have a mature forest just outside, and the big windows really bring the mountain feel right into the room. In the summer, the back deck gets a workout! It is very private back there and the sound of the stream is very soothing.

We did an extensive remodel to the kitchen and main entertaining area. I went with a unique Saltillo tile flooring, which I really like for the warmth and ease of upkeep. Secondly, the size of the home also makes it a perfect potential rental property. We can sleep 20 or more comfortably, and an owner could have the best of both worlds; family retreat and income producer all in one!

Because my kitchen and counter area is so open, we usually all just hang out at the kitchen bar counter and chat with appetizers and wine, before moving into the separate dining room for a casual dinner. The dining room table comfortably seats 10 or more, so after dinner it is a great place to relax, tell stories and get caught up with one other.

Not sure it would be considered an extravagance, but the three-car garage has been priceless. With so many bikes, skis and other assorted mountain toys, there was always plenty of room to actually park our cars!

The Illinois Gulch River really gushes right through the back yard year round. It is only steps behind my home, but sheltered in a thick aspen glade. In the summer I generally sleep with my window open and the sound of running water is music to my ears!

Absolute peace and quiet, while being so close to town provides a magical combination that I probably take for granted now, but it really is special to be able to have both! This home in the Breck South Subdivision was selected as this week's Property Spotlight in Summit Homes & Properties. Homeowner Rae Anderson was asked to provide information to a standard set of questions designed to help the reader learn more about the property.
