As many are aware, the Keystone Science School (KSS) has an opportunity to become a freestanding 501(c) 3 organization if it is able to raise significant funds in the upcoming weeks.
We have been owners in Summit County since 1988, and became involved with the Keystone Science School in 2001 when we sent our nephew to camp. His reaction was so positive that we wanted to learn more about KSS. In the intervening years, we have become passionate supporters of KSS because we believe strongly in the KSS mission: raising awareness of environmental and scientific issues at a young age, and building critical thinking and leadership skills in young people. We have especially enjoyed supporting the campership program; the meaningful letters of appreciation from campers who have received financial assistance reinforce our belief in the school's mission. Some quotes:
"This has been one of the best experiences of my life; I have had so much fun and learned so much."
"The best part of all I went out of my comfort zone, faced fears, and made some really good friends."
"The hikes were amazing, especially the challenge hike."
"I had never gone backpacking before and it definitely changed my views on nature and hiking ... Even through the challenges I had a really great time."
"(The hike) was very challenging but I'm glad I did it, because ... I feel so accomplished and grateful that I had such an amazing opportunity."
KSS is a fantastic asset for our community, Colorado, and the whole country. We want the positive, meaningful impact it has on young people to continue. We urge everyone to make a donation or pledge, of any size, to be sure this happens. Go to www.keystonescienceschool.org or email email@example.com.
