A Vail Resorts employee is in the Eagle County Detention Facility on a felony charge that he stole expensive camera equipment from a skier who found her backpack unzipped while she waited in a Vail Mountain lift line.
Teodor Georgiev, 29, of Vail allegedly tried to sell the equipment, valued at $4,200 on Craigslist - first to the victim, then an undercover investigator.
"Georgiev told deputies that he found the camera while he was working at Vail Resorts," the Eagle County Sheriff's Department said in a media release Monday . "He stated that 'times are tough' so he figured he would sell it rather than following Vail Resorts policy which requires employees to report all found items to lost and found."
The victim, who was not named, spotted the camera on Craigslist on Jan. 29, a week after it was allegedly stolen. She contacted Georgiev and asked he send her pictures of the camera, which revealed its serial number and, based on the encryption from smartphone photos to find the location where the photo was taken.
