Timeforcake: Hands-on gaming with Sifteo Cubes

Sifteo Cubes are video gaming devices that combine the tactile pleasure of playing and building with real blocks (think Legos) with the fun and versatility of a video game console.

The small cubes actually sense touch and movements - like when they're being spun or shaken. They're also able to sense when they are touching another Sifteo Cube.

So, a character in a video game can walk from one cube into another cube that it's touching, but would be trapped if you took the Sifteo Cube away. You can even tilt a cube to pour a liquid into another one below it.

This video game console is appropriate for kids and adults. A set of three Sifteo Cubes comes from the factory with four games already installed, and you can purchase additional cubes and games online.

Sounds complex, but it's a fascinating concept. Check it out here: https://www.sifteo.com/product

1. http://RichBlocksPoorBlocks.com - A map of income and rent numbers in every county in the United States. Just enter a city name or address and pick a state and choose whether you're interested in seeing rent amounts or income amounts.

2. http://tinyurl.com/a23h8pq - All day long we're touching our keyboards, our smartphones, our tablets, our smartphones again, our mice, the screen at the bank's ATM, our smartphones again, and so on. And each day we block the thoughts about how germy all these surfaces are because if we didn't, we'd become complete germaphobes who never got anything done. I don't want you to go germaphobe on me, but I do recommend you consider taking a peek at this "Doctor's Guide to Better Handwashing" article so you can at least take a small and easy step toward reducing the amount of time you're sick each year.

3. http://tinyurl.com/bds7f89 - This YouTube user posted a video showing someone engaged in interactive window shopping at an Adidas store in Bavaria. Wonder when we'll be seeing more of these installations here in the States.

4. http://tinyurl.com/bfqysgq - If you think or have been thinking about SEO like this, I'm telling you right now: you're in big trouble and likely setting yourself up for disappointment.

5. http://tinyurl.com/8totfb5 - I've been purchasing gifts from OrganicBouquet.com for family, friends and clients since 2006. One of my favorite programs they have is "Flowers For Good." It's a collection of 50 different beautiful flower arrangements, with each arrangement connected to a deserving nonprofit. You simply purchase a bouquet and the nonprofit gets 5 percent of the sale; it's that easy. You purchase a gift with no extra markeup and a nonprofit receives a donation. Everyone wins: the buyer, the gift recipient, the nonprofit and Organic Bouquet.
