Summit County Community Notes: 3-9-2013

Seminar will delve into the power and dangers of the Internet. It will include a discussion on the importance of Internet security and will introduce some specific Internet sites that may be of interest to you. Additional topics that will be discussed will include backing up your data, interfacing with printers, understanding the various connection ports on your computer and using wireless equipment. This seminar is scheduled from 9-11 a.m .today at the Senior Center in Frisco. The class is limited to 10, so call the Senior Center to pre-register at (970) 668-2940. Walk-ins will need to be turned away if the class limit is reached on the day of the seminar.

Lowe's Build and Grow Kids' Clinic is combining efforts with the annual MDA fundraiser at 10 a.m. today. A face painting donation booth will be set up at the workshop. Suggested donation of $1 will be taken and a child can have their face painted. All donations raised go to a local family who is dealing with MD. Families are encouraged to register online for the kids' clinic, as kits are limited to 75 and unclaimed kits are handed out at 10:15 a.m. Call (970) 968-4000 for more information.

Do you work or want to ski on the weekends and struggle to find affordable child care? The Breckenridge Recreation Center is offering weekend day care. Activities will include swimming, climbing, gym games, ice skating, Nordic skiing, arts and crafts and field trips. Upcoming mini camp dates include today, March 16, 23 and 30. Have you ever wondered what steps are involved in purchasing a home? Come find out at our free homebuyer education class from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday in the Mount Royal Room at the County Commons in Frisco. The class is free and is sponsored by the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority. It's put on by the Summit Combined Housing Authority with help from local volunteers who will walk you through the lending process, real estate transaction, title company portion and home inspection. There will also be information on current down payment assistance programs. Pre-register at (970) 423-7044.
