Registration open for annual Run the Rockies

Set your personal goals for the summer and register for the 37th annual Salomon Run the Rockies weekend on June 8-9, 2013. Registration is available online at www.RuntheRockies.com. The 2013 race offers both road and trail options to participants.

New this year are waved start times for the road half-marathon and the 10k races, giving participants more space to enjoy the view. Run the Rockies is known as a great early season race boasting a nearly 90 percent downhill course. Both races start at Copper Mountain and finish on Main Street in Frisco with views of the Ten Mile River the whole way. The 10k downhill ends on Frisco Main Street, the half-marathon continues on the bike path, turns around just before Farmer's Korner, doubles back and ends on Frisco's Main Street.

The trail races take place Sunday, June 9 on the Frisco Peninsula. The race courses include 5k and 10k options, with views of the lake and rolling climbs. Last year, more than 700 entrants participated.

"The race keeps growing in appeal, most likely due to the breathtaking views as you run along the Ten Mile River," stated Linsey Kach, recreation manager of the town of Frisco.

Registration is available online at www.RuntheRockies.com. Current discounted prices are $50 for the half marathon and $40 for the 10k. The trail race registration is $40 for the 5k and 10k. Prices go up May 1. Day-of registration will be available for both races. Registration for the road race June 8 is available at the Frisco Recreation Building, located at Third Avenue and Main Street, from 6-8 a.m. The 5k and10k trail race day-of registration will be available at the Frisco Day Lodge from 7-8 a.m. on June 9.
